NCCWT Markers

In September of 2007, the City of Lexington formally dedicated three markers as a result of its participation in the North Carolina Civil War Trails Program. In conjunction with this dedication, members of local government, businesses, and educational institutions held a living history in downtown Lexington on September 15, 2007.

The two Civil War Trails markers in Lexington discuss the role of two local landmarks; the 1858 Courthouse and the William R. Holt house in the days following the end of the war in North Carolina. The living history focused on the Union occupation of the city by Union troops from the Ninth Pennsylvania Cavalry.
